This Social Work Month, we honor njHealth's hospice social workers for their unwavering dedication and the meaningful difference they make every single day.
Suzanne DePasquale, LCSW, has been a social worker for over 35 years, including 27 years specializing in palliative and hospice care. She has been part of NJ Health since its inception and is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered support to individuals and families navigating serious illness and end-of-life care.
Prior to her work in hospice, Suzanne served as a school guidance counselor and autism play therapist, experiences that strengthened her lifelong commitment to supporting emotional well-being across the lifespan. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Thomas Edison State College, a Master of Education degree from the University of Miami, and a Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers University.
"I find the greatest fulfillment in helping patients and families during some of life’s most difficult moments, offering guidance, advocacy, and emotional support with empathy and respect," she said. "Growing up in South Philadelphia and becoming a mother at a young age shaped a deep understanding of resilience and the importance of strong support systems." These personal experiences continue to influence her compassionate approach to social work and her dedication to serving others with dignity and care.
