Therapist has a Magic Touch and a Heartful of Caring

Danielle Pace has a magic touch. Yes, she does, just ask anyone who has had a massage from this licensed massage therapist.  The Vineland resident has 15 years' experience in massage therapy of which she has spent the past seven of those years dedicated specifically to hospice care. She finds the work special because it gives her the opportunity to bring comfort, ease, and meaningful connection to patients and their families during such an important and vulnerable time in their lives.

"Hospice allows me to use my skills in a way that feels purposeful and meaningful. Working in this setting gives me the privilege of being present with people when compassion matters most." she said. "I love being able to offer comfort, dignity, and moments of peace through touch. It fulfills me to know that I can make someone’s day a little lighter—even if it’s just for a moment."

A graduate with Rowan University with an associate degree in Health Science, Pace went on to earn a certification in massage therapy. She became a certified medical massage practitioner, as well as a certified death doula, and a certified dementia practitioner. She continues to take classes and expand her knowledge and skills to serve hospice patients and support their caregivers. 

"I’m proud of the trust patients place in me, and proud to be part of a team so committed to compassionate care," said Pace of her work with NJHealth Hospice. "Knowing that even a small act of comfort can have a big impact makes me proud of the work I do."

NJHealth Hospice is one of only a few hospices to offer massage therapy. Services like massage and music therapy are not required, but NJHealth Hospice believes that they contribute to quality care. Massage has been known to reduce pain, anxiety and increase endorphins to enhance quality of life and help with sleep.
