NJHealth's Own Recognized for Healthcare Excellence

Margie Barham has always believed that healthcare is about more than medicine—it’s about compassion, connection, and community. With nearly four decades of experience in healthcare public relations spanning both hospital and hospice settings, she has built a career grounded in elevating patient care, supporting families, and giving voice to those navigating life’s most vulnerable moments.

"Through her work with NJHealth Hospice and Palliative Care, Margie has become a trusted hospice advocate and leader," said Suzanne Martinelli, CEO of the NJ Health Team who submitted Barham for the nomination," Now, that longstanding career dedication is being recognized on a larger stage, as South Jersey BIZ names her among its prestigious “Who’s Who in Healthcare,” celebrating the lasting impact she continues to make across the region."

Barham is the director of public relations and special projects for NJ Health Hospice and Palliative Care. A resident of Beesley’s Point NJ, she is a dynamic healthcare leader who oversees organization-wide communications, media relations, and special projects for NJHealth. She has played a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s public identity while strengthening internal culture and deepening community engagement. Through strategic storytelling and outreach, she has expanded awareness of serious illness, caregiving, grief, and end-of-life care—helping normalize critical healthcare conversations and reinforcing NJHealth’s mission of compassionate service.

"A trusted mentor and collaborative leader, Margie partners across clinical, volunteer, chaplaincy, and administrative teams to foster inclusion, pride, and engagement," said NJHealth Hospice and Palliative Care CEO Suzanne Martinelli. "Her servant leadership—grounded in integrity, resilience, and emotional intelligence—bridges strategy and patient-centered outcomes."

An award-winning writer and artist, she holds a communications degree from Rowan University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. "I am honored to receive this recognition and grateful to be able to do a job I love every day," said Barham.
