Peace, Love, Tie-Dye—and a Far-Out Day at Big Oak

For one colorful afternoon, the NJHealth Team turned Big Oak Rehab in Elmer into the hippest, most happening spot in town. The moment the 1970s music began, everyone was ready to boogie back to a decade filled with peace signs, bright colors, big smiles, and plenty of good vibrations. Residents and team members joined the fun with flower power, tie-dyed bandannas, peace-sign necklaces, and playful temporary tattoos. Right on! Even the oatmeal cookies seemed totally far-out with a classic ’70s soundtrack playing nearby!

The room soon looked like a cheerful time capsule, and the scene was outta sight. Shirley Griffie brought flower power with blossoms on her head, Joann Higman showed off a tattoo on her cheek, and Lena Cotese flashed a peace sign from her wheelchair. Barbara, Joann, Rich, the residents, and the NJHealth Team all got into the spirit—sharing laughs, making memories, and proving that you are never too old to boogie down and get a little groovy. Can you dig it?

By the end of the celebration, Big Oak was full of peace, love, tie-dye, and the kind of happiness that never goes out of style. It was dynamite, baby—keep on truckin’!
